Update Regarding The Criminal Trial Of Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka

The latest update regarding the criminal trial of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka is that a hearing to determine his mental competency is not scheduled to be held until May 13th in Allentown, Pennsylvania. However, prosecutors in the case have requested that Judge Kelly L. Banach force Snuka's attorneys to hand over reports that they have regarding his current mental capacities.

Snuka's attorneys state that the 72-year-old former WWE Superstar is currently suffering from dementia and post-concussion syndrome. Additionally, Snuka is also currently battling stomach cancer.

The Allentown Morning Call is reporting that Snuka's attorneys have apparently ignored three separate requests from prosecutors to turn over their findings. Robert J. Kirwan, Snuka's lead attorney, was allegedly quoted as saying the following to Chief District Attorney Charles F. Gallagher:

"No, your expert should be able to complete his evaluation without copying off my expert."

The court had initially ordered both the prosecution and defense to examine Snuka's mental capacities and not appoint a third expert, citing the costs involved with doing so.

As has been widely reported, Snuka was charged with involuntary manslaughter and third-degree murder in 2015 with the 1983 death of his then-girlfriend, Nancy Argentino. Ever since then, Snuka has been undergoing numerous mental evaluations in order to determine whether or not he understands all of the charges against him, as well as whether or not he can actually stand trial.

If Snuka is deemed to be unfit to stand trial, then the case will not proceed any further; however, if the opposite happens, then the case will proceed.
