WWE Hall Of Famer âStone Coldâ Steve Austin recently took part in a wide-ranging interview with Complex.com writer Damien McDuffie. During the interview McDuffie touched upon the 2007 angle which involved Austin delivering a stunner to Donald Trump at WrestleMania 23.Â
Austin revealed that it was Vince McMahonâs idea to get Trump to take the Stunner at WrestleMania. He said, Vince says to me, âSteve, Iâm going to see if I can get Donald to take the Stunner,ââ McMahon goes up to Trump and says, âHey Donald, this is Stone Cold Steve Austin.â I shook Donaldâs hand. He goes, âListen, I want to know if after the match, when everything is done, if Steve could hit the Stone Cold Stunner on you.â Donald says, âYou think itâd be a good thing?â and Vince goes, âOh, of course it would be. It would just blow the roof off the place.â And Donaldâs right hand guy was saying, âNo, no, no! You donât need to do this, we got other things to do!â Heâs trying to talk him out of it. And Donald says to Vince, âYou think itâll help?â and Vince goes, âI promise you itâll help.â And Donald says, âOkay, Iâll do it.â
Austin added âHe (Trump) was a stand-up guy, he was there to do business and we did business, so I respect the man for that. If I see him giving a speech on the TV, I donât think, âHey, I gave this guy a stunner.â We were doing business and we did business. The fact that he is going to be the next President of the United States, itâs a hell of a story.â
